Country’s story is already written. We Gumbaynggirr people are just the vessels for this story. We share this story of how the land, sea, sky, and languages were made in the hopes that you may respect it for future generations to come – just as we always have.

Informed by Yuludarla’s journey from north to south, explore miirlarl, culture and history, through song and cinema. A celebration of language and its revival, all people are invited to learn the story of this place. Diving in and out of the past and the present, the film brings a Gumbaynggirr perspective to sacred places, protocol and people from deep time to now. Exploring untold histories of Country; her triumphs and her sorrows, and the dialogue Gumbaynggirr people have with her every day.

Daalga Nginundi Wajaarr Sing Your Country was created by Alison Page and Nik Lachajczak of ZAKPAGE, award winning storytellers who work at the convergence of film, sculpture, design and architecture. The score is a re-working of traditional songs by Gumbaynggirr artist Birrugan Dunn-Velasco using modern instrumentation and sounds from Country.

This artwork is dedicated to the Gumbaynggirr people; it is their ancestral lands upon which we live and work; they who were so generous with their cultural knowledge and lore in the making of this film.
